Exhibition press release excerpt:
Linn has created a series of metal canvases where the metal is heated until cherry hot, then hammered extensively until ripped. Since the metal sheet is stretched tightly across the frame the tearing of it is similar to that of skin stretch across our bodies, when cut it “pops” up. Only the heated and hammered areas are stretched and torn leaving the rest of the canvases almost undistorted. This juxtaposition creates a dialog for the viewer. Is this a canvas or a wall sculpture?
